OLIVIA SUMICH - LANGUAGE TEACHER

Olivia Sumich has been teaching since 2001, and interested in exploring fresh pedagogic approaches to language learning, started her own approach to language learning in 2006 called 'Language Through Acting'. On her quest to permeate her students with the 'taste and feel' of the target language Olivia draws on her background in theatre while also creating an environment where students feel comfortable to 'stick their necks' out and communicate aloud in the new language right from the start - in spite of the concerns every new learner has about making mistakes and 'not knowing'.

In 2010 Olivia discovered the Accelerative Integrated Method (AIM) a revolutionary language learning methodology developed in Canada over the past twenty years. The AIM approach to language learning is taking language learning worldwide by storm with thousands of schools using the method in Canada, the U.S., Australia and Holland.

The AIM methodology incorporates the unique AIM 'Gesture Approach' (using hand gestures or actions for each word and grammatical concept taught). Please visit www.aimlanguagelearning.com (click on Why AIM?) for short videos giving an overview of the method.

Due to it's powerful effect on language retention and fluency levels, Olivia is now incorporating the AIM methodology in to all of her classes including adapting the AIM methodology for adult learners with great success. Look what Olivia's students are saying:
